Lightweight pilots?
I like my planes with pilots in the cockpit. The pilots available all have a thick molded wall, latex or styrene. They add weight where I don't care for it. Other than Williams brothers, pilots cost $.
*A pilot is often protected inside a canopy
*The pilot takes little stress
*The cost of a variety of different appearing pilots cost the stocking hobby store too much.
Why doesn't someone manufacture vac-u-formed pilots. Guillows makes some for their kits. Goldberg used to include some with their trainer kits.
*Vac-u-formed parts are very light
*The small amount of material should make for a low priced product.
*The small cost of molds should allow more diversity.
*Since the outside is painted it can look just about as good as we want it to.

RE: Lightweight pilots?
You want a ligghtweight pilot???
How about this: When I first started flying full-size gliders, I needed to take a 50 pound lead bag with me because I was too light[&:] ( I used to weight 110 pounds when I was fifteen.... That would make that old Schweizer 1-26 WAY tail heavy! )
