Inflight variable pitch props. HELP!
i have been searching for an IN-FLIGHT ADJUSTABLE pitch prop that would fit onto my new ys. 110. that means i can control the pitch from the transmitter. actually, i jsut want to togle a switch so that i can give it a pitch of like 1 or something so that i can run my engine up without having to hold the plane while i am taxiing it out onto the runway and then flip it the other way for a x5 or something for regular flight. a 3 bladed one would be best, buta two bladed one will do.

RE: Inflight variable pitch props. HELP!
I've never seen a commercially produced, variable pitch prop for RC aircraft. At least not one that works from the transmitter. The closest I've ever seen is produced by a company named "Vario" or something like that. But their props are only adjustable at the prop with a screwdriver.

RE: Inflight variable pitch props. HELP!
Full scale variable pitch props are usually controlled by hydraulic pressure through the shaft but there are some manual, and electric. Any of these would add so much complication and weight that they wouldn't be practical for a model. If you come up with a workable model you will have crossed a barrier that has perplexed modelers since the beginning of the hobby.

There's a long thread on here somewhere relating to the development of a turboprop plane with a variable pitch prop. I believe the prop was developed from a helicopter rotor head.

I have an experimental constant speed prop on a Q 52. Will try to get some pictures up. Wouldn't work on the old site. Something about, wrong format, whatever that means. Turns 7000 rpm. Works on springs and weights, centrifugal force. Something like a lawn mower governor.

hmm, i was hoping for onethat would be adjustable inflight because i would like to bring the pitch to 0 with a flip of a switch so that i can run my engine up without haning to run out and hold it.

There was an inflight adjustable prop advertised maybe back in the 70's. I don't recall who made it and I don't think it was very successful. Sorry I can't be more precise.

This one goes to low pitch at idle. Don't think you would want it to go to zero pitch at idle as there would be no cooling for the engine. This one goes to about four degrees.

you don't seem to understand what i mean. i want it to be a constant pitch while the switch is on, but i would like to be able to flip a switch and go to zero pitch just for a quick run-up.

You don't seem to understand that lots of very smart people with lots of $$ have been looking for the exact same thing for years and years. If you could find one, it'd set you back a few grand. If there was a viable option, and could be made for a few grand, somebody would be making it. The guy in Austria had loads of trouble getting a one-off heli head version to even fly, much less perform well. He finally did, with a turbine, but by his own account it cost nearly as much as a full scale constant speed prop..and he had some of the best minds in Europe helping him.
It just ain't happening...

If you just want to be able to run up the engine on the runway, it seems like brakes would be a much more practical option.

Try this link http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/sear...mitbutton=+OK+
If that does not work, then got to the search on rcuniverse.com. Type in turboprop engine for search. When the things come up with the matching pair, find something like ummmmmm.......aerobatic turboprob plane (it flies!!) something like that. It will be under "The Clubhouse"......Well, I'm going to search for that, copy what the exact thing says and post another post for ya.........hang on.........
