Depends on the category of plane. Non-stop without refueling? Sailplane? Etc. I don't know any of the records, but there are bunch that would fall in that category. In fact, I think a team just flew a plane across the Atlantic.

Then you have closed-course distance, cross-country distance, etc. The world records are sanctioned by the FAI in Paris, and about the only spec I can quote is the airplane has to weigh less than 5 kg (11 pounds) with fuel....JIM

Thanks for the info from one and all. I'm designing an RC that will pilot itself for extreme distance using a GPS hooked to a palm pilot and digital attitude controls. I've got the Palm programmed and can easily control the servos, now I'm working on a design -- doing some experiments on fuel consumption so I know my fuel capacity.

Looks like someone did it from Canada to Ireland. I think I can do better.

Anyone have any links to any storied for this guy who did the longest flight? Maynard Hill.

Was going to use a standard wing, but now I'm thinking about a single engine channel wing with control and fuel in nacelles hung under on either side of the channel. Thoughts?
