Best Glue for Robart Hinge Points
I will be using Robart Hinge Points for the first time. What do you all recomend I use to glue them in? I heard everything from Carpenters glue to 15 min Epoxy. This will be my first Big Gasser and I really don't want to loose it to something simple like hinge failure cause I used the wrong glue.

I would only use epoxy! Depending on how hast you feel that you can work would be the determining factor on the set speed, I usually use 5 min. and only do one side at a time. Be sure to protect the joint of the hinge from the epoxy (vasoline).

I used to use epoxy. I now use Probond Polyurethane (Gorilla) glue.
I protect the pivot with Vaseline. Using a water soaked Q-Tip, I moisten the holes in the control surface with the cotton swab. Poly glue requires moisture to expand.
I then use a very thin layer of Poly glue on the hinge, and install.
The glue foams up and fills the cavity. It is necessary to wipe the excess off the pivot sometimes as the foam sometimes expands outside the hole.
With practice this becomes less and less an issue. Try it on a piece of scrap foam and you'll never go back to epoxy.
P.S. I also use this stuff to sheet foam core wings......And yes, it does cure in a vacuum when bagging cores.

You probably won't believe this but I've been using RC56 on the Robart hinges ever since it was suggested to me at a Imac contest. If you think about it, with the vibration of the big ones
the RC56 stays plyable to absorb some of the vibration before
going into the hinge. Do a test and try to pull one out.

I use epoxy also, but go to Eckerds or Wallgreen and buy some 10cc Syringes. Suck the epoxy into the syringe and gluing your hinges will be 1000 times easier than trying to drip the epoxy into the holes and it will hold better also.

I used ProBond. It's almost as strong as epoxy. Plus it is a lot easier to clean up the inevitable ooze I end up with. I am a clutz.

Used to use epoxy, switched to Pro Bond. I ran a test with Pro Bond vs epoxy on a scrap piece of 3/8" balsa. One hinge was mounted with epoxy, and one with Pro Bond. Both held extremely well. The hinge joint actually failed as I was trying to pull them out after curing. You have to experiment with just how much Pr Bond to use, as too much will foam out around the hinge. Be sure and put Vaseline on the hinge joints.
