The best way to seat a Blind Nut is to mount it before you install the firewal in the plane. That way you can use all sorts of modern tools to assist - like a hammer...

However as you missed that one - I take a length of stiff wire and insert it into the Blind nut, then feed the wire to the hole you want to insert it into, tip the plane forward and allow gravity to assist you. Carefully remove the wire and then thread a bolt into it so that you can pull the nut into the wood. Pressure will have to be applied to the nut by a finger or some other long tool while you are attempting to thread the bolt and no this is not a perfect system - but it will work.

If you have threaded rod with the same thread as the nut, then do what bbbair said, except when you pull it in place, give it a sharp yank. Then slowly and carefully unthread the rod and use a bolt to finish seating it. DO NOT use the bolt by itself or the bolt will get pulled into the firewall. Either put the bolt through the engine mount first or through a piece of plywood with a passage hole drilled in it. In any case, put a washer on the bolt.

You can do the same as CafeenMan suggested with the threaded rod, but if you use all thread, you can use it to pull the blind nut in place with a nut threaded onto the all thread on the front of the firewall. Once the blind nut is seated, back off the nut, then unthread the all thread and you are set.

What's a keebler???[sm=confused.gif][sm=confused.gif]
Is that when you get a small elf to hold the nut while you thread the bolt? Plus, you might get some cookies from the deal....

A piece of the inner Nyrod with a short threaded stud in it can thread into the blind nut, and then use the Nyrod to pull the nut into place.

All of these are great suggestions, but remember to get a little CA around the blind nut once you get it set so that you don't have to do it again. Trust me you don't want to have to do the same repair in 2 minute intervals.
