Problems with Model Products Remote Glowplug Head Lock Remote
I have a Model Products Remote Glowplug Head Lock on my OS .91 Surpass 2 FS. It doesn't seem to be making a good connection. This is hard to believe since the glowplug head lock fits very snug and is hard to pull off the glow plug. I tried bending in the sides of the glowplug head lock to attain a better connection. This did not solve the problem. I talked to other members at the flying field with the same product and they are experiencing the exact problem. Someone please suggest a fix or similar product for this problem! I do not want to spend more than $20.

We've found the major problem is that the spring pressure on the center lead isn't strong enough to get contact on the center lead of the glowplug. I've added an extension to the glow plug center lead made out of brass tubing that fits snugly around the plug lead and pushes harder on the center contact of the remote starter.

Propwash, I had the same problem with one from Sullivan and I remided it this way. If you have used some of Sullivans Golden Rods you should have some of those little clips for their clevisis left over. Lake one and use an appropriate sized drill bit to slightley enlarge the little hole for the post. Then when it will snap onto the glow plug post just cut the exsisting connector off and solder this clip onto the wire. It actually is more pleasing to the eye also because you don't have this big hunk of metal sitting on top of the engine.
I will try to remeber to take a pic of mine and post it later or in the morning.

Propwash, Here are the pics of my solution. I also added some heat shrink tubing to the end and routed the wire through a section of fuel line. My thought was to protect the wire from rubbing on the engine during flight.

Thanks forfun42us!
Your solution worked like a charm! You are a life saver. I almost went out and bought a replacement remote glow system.
