How many Robart hinge points?
I am doing a major repair job on my Super Sportster 40. The tail surfaces are 1/4" thick. I will be hinging the rudder and elevator with these small Robart pin-point hinges.
On the elevator should I use 3 hinges (right), or 4 hinges (left)? Same question for the rudder.
Thanks,
Juice

I used three on mine. It's powered by as OS 70 Surpass, and I haven't had any problems.
You are doing a great job. Keep up the nice work. You'll love this plane!

RE: How many Robart hinge points?
I would not mount the hinges the way you have them shown in the photos. I would put one hinge close to each end of the elevator - maybe about 1" from the end or so.
Also, I like to mount a hinge as close as possible to the horn to tighten up the setup somewhat.

RE: How many Robart hinge points?
Three it is. And inboard hinges will go as close as possible to the elevator joiners.
I added triangle shaped balance tabs on the elevators and rudders (like Spitfire balance tabs). They are about 1.5" long at the tips. So each hinge line is shorter by that amount. That's why the outboard hinges are not near the tips. They are actually about 1/2" from the end of the hinge line.
Thanks for your help guys,
Juice
