Default Waxing the plane???

I like a nice wax job on the car, but what about on the plane? Do you do it? What kind do you use? Will it stick to films such as Monocote? Is it fuel proof? Will the plane stay cleaner? Will it add any significant weight? Is it worth the effort? You get the idea...let's hear your spin on the subject.
Thanx
Jim

I use 303 U.V. Protectant on my covering. If I want to shine it up, I use a spray-on auto finish "quick-detailer" type wax. NEVER USE PAPER TOWELS--always terry cloth or T-shirt material..

I attended the NATS for pylon racing this past year and on day one of competition I witnessed 90 % of the contestants wax or apply some sort of slippery stuff to there aircraft. Don't know if it was a psych thing or not but it made me go run for some armor-all

I use the new orange Pledge wipes.......after the windshield washer fluid to get the oil off, wipe down with the Pledge wipes, smells good and it's shiney.

Great info ...thanks very much. I have always used whatever spray cleaner I had at hand, and of course...paper towels. My planes were always neat, but not always totally shiny. After reading the suggestions, I just happened to see my wifes Pledge right there on the shelf, so I gave it a try, with a nice soft tee shirt....no paper towel. Well now I have a real project on my hands. That first plane that I did with the Pledge is glossier than I have ever seen it...it looks marvelous...but do you know how many planes I have left to do???
thanks all...
Jim

Did you know that if you use Pledge, that it also, after serveral coats, seals trim pieces? Just make sure your trim is secure before putting the Pledge on. If you get that wax coating under any little flaps, then you'll have a tough time resecuring it.
