Default hmmm? C G Question

I have a 40 size semi symetrical trainer looking plane.I do not know what kit it is.Is there a rule of thumb about where the C-G will be on the wing?

Default RE: hmmm? C G Question

25% of the wings chord is a good starting point.

25% -30% of the chord from the leading edge of the wing at the fuselage with an empty fuel tank.

Like the others said, 25%-30% is normal. On a trainer, this is almost always on or very close to the main spar so that is a quick and easy way to get a safe CG setting on an unknown plane. That should put the plane either right on, or a little nose heavy which is okay for the maiden flight. If you are new to this, make sure to get an expeirenced pilot to check it out and take it up for its maiden flight and let him know that you didn't know the spec's for the CG so he can be prepared.

Or use this to get a pretty exact CG for ANY wing.
