How to get oil out of balsa
I'm re-covering an old Cloud King and the nose has some soaked in oil. I used to use K2R spot lifter to get oil out of balsa for re-covering, but can't find it anymore. Anybody have something new that they're using to get oil out of a used airplane wood.
TIA

RE: How to get oil out of balsa
If you mix alcohol with talc or cornstarch to create a brushable slurry, then brush it into the affected area with a stiff brush, it will soak up most of the oil. Let it dry, then brush it off and clean with more alcohol. If it doesn't get it on the first treatment, do another. Eventually you will get it. I've also heard (but not tried) the method of using a paper towel over the area and an iron to "lift" the oil out. The first method will work, however. Good luck, Dzl
