Keeping it within about 4 inches or so of the back of the engine would be best. Much farther than that and you may start running into fuel draw problems. Keeping the tank centerline level with the carb fuel pick up line and/or needle valve will help let you get marginally farther back.

The shorter you fuel lines and the more inline with the carb that you have the tank, the fewer problems you will have. You can extend the distance by using a one-way check valve on the exhaust/vent side and a good filter on the carb/fuel side. The rest depends on the tank size and muffler back pressure.

RE: HOW FAR I CAN PUT THE FUEL TANK WITHOUT PUMP??
I had a problem with my Tiger 2 of not having enough space for a 10oz tank in the normal place. I have been using this cure for over 2 years, and it works. The trick is to fool the engine into thinking the tank is only 3" away (which it is).
Mount a 2oz. tank in the normal location. Then place the main tank where it will fit.
I like to have it near the CG. Run a line from the pressure tap on the muffler to the vent on the large tank. Run a line from the fuel pickup on the large tank to the vent on the 2oz. tank. Run a line from the 2oz. tank to the engine. The muffler pressure will always keep the 2oz. tank full till the main tank is empty. The only change I notice is that if the main tank is empty and I do a touch and go, the engine sags when I go to full throdel.
Now I know it's time to land. Do not put a check valve in the vent line between the muffler and the vent on the large tank. The check valve will keep the pressure up, but at idle, the pressure and fuel will bleed into the carb and flood the engine when you go to idle.

in your tiger 2 , what´s the distance betwin the engine and the large tank??

It is 11" from the center line of carb to the center of the tank.
I used the same setup with a ST. 75. It worked just as well.
