Mounting Aux Car Battery
Has anyone mounted a car battery in their car for charging their battery packs?
I'd like to mount a battery in my car using one of the battery isolators so that I can charge both batteries but only use the aux deep cycle for charging. A side benefit would be to power fans/tv/lights/notebook computer while camping.
Thanks.

Check out a shop or catalog specializing in performance car parts and look for a battery relocating kit. This will contain a battery box, brackets and cables to mount a battery anywhere you want it.

I used to work in the slide in Camper business many years ago. Even at that time, we had a system that added an additional battery to power the lights and the outlets. The battery would be charged when the engine was running, and also allowed the primary battery not to lose power when the lights were run in the camper for long periods. As I remember, installation was very easy. (Of course that was 30 years ago, things have most likely changed.)

If there is little room under hood, you could mount it in the trunk. Utilize a marine battery box with holddown strap. You will need at least a 10 ga stranded wire to deliver the juice from the front to the rear.

Try Camping World or any of the RV stores. For about $30 they have a battery isolator kit (High amp diodes) to prevent the drain of the auxiliary battery from discharging the main battery, but allowing it to be charged from the car's alternator. A simple installation as long as you have room for the second battery.
