Adding oil to fuel
I'm going to be getting a YS 53. I'm going to be using Cool power synthetic fuel in it. The ? is YS recommends 20% oil for the YS, can I add Castor oil to bring it up to 20%, or should I avoid castor for this engine. I don't have access to YS 20/20 or power master 20/20. What synthetic oil could I mix with the Omega Cool Power? Thanks to all for any input!

Adding oil to fuel
rcdemon,
Unless the manufacturer recommends synthetic oil only I would add castor. Castor has better rust protection and is a better lube if the engine goes lean. I always use fuel with at least some castor, the only problem I have with castor is that it causes varnish and can get unsightly on the mufller and head.

Adding oil to fuel
I know that castor is a plus for most engines and I add it regularly to my fuel to bring the oil content up tp 20%. I've heard that to much castor can cause problems with the regulator on YS engines, they have a internal pump.. What I need to know is if 3% castor in my fuel will cause problems with the pump, or if I can add Koltz synthetic to the Omega Cool power and have it mix with the synthetic oil in the cool power????

Again unless YS recommends synthetic oil only I would just use castor but if your question is will Koltz mix with the synthetic in Cool Power the answer is it will. I can't imagine that 3% castor would hurt a thing but after you get the engine the instructions should tell if you need all synthetic oil or if a blend is "OK".

The YS manual indicates you can use castor, but most people use all synthetic to prevent gumming up the valves and valve seats. I normally run Cool Power Pro Pattern 20/20, but in a pinch I've run Cool Power 15% with an extra 4 ounces of Klotz with good success.
