The newer AM radios don't have a socket for a buddy cord. The older 'gold box' radios have different pin configurations for AM and FM. Don't know why, but the FM cord won't plug into an AM radio.

It depends on the radios. I have a FP-5UA that will plug into the Skysport and work fine. The 5UA (AM) was the master and the Skysport (FM) was the slave. I have also tried it with my Tower hobbies 3000 series FM radio and it worked too. I tried it with my 6XAs and it wouldn't work and it won't fit with my 9C. Like I said, it depends of the radios.
