Default Greatest Achievement in Modeling?

Just curious as to what is considered the "Top" in RC flying? Meaning...is winning Top Gun the highest accomplishment in this hobby? Or winning at the Scale Masters? Both?
Just looking for something to shoot for!!!

A "One-Handed Landing"

That's where you can pick up all the pieces with just one hand!

Bill Bennett, the gentleman who put $9 million into the TOC passed away a couple of years ago, and nothing has been put together to replace it.

Worldwide, the FAI championships in indiviual disciplines are probably recognized as the best of the best now. There are certainly those that would argue that wining Top Gun, the Scale Masters, or the AMA NATS in a particular venue are the best.

J_R, Bill sure affected modeling in a positive way worldwide with TOC. There are some other comps gearing up like the Tucson Shootout etc.

As for the greatest achievement (aviator) at 2 feet for 20secs plus and it's still in one piece . Running OS 91FX with APC 16x4W.

I'll agree to anything Maynard Hill has done, altitude and distance records, trans Atlantic flight, ect. Did you know he's legally blind to boot?

All depends on your interest. Aerobatics guys will go with TOC, scale guys Top Gun, Masters and such. Me I'm just glad I get it home in the same shape it left the shop in. That and building an entire plane and not gluing myself to it once.

TOC for aerobatics, Top Gun, Scalemasters, Nats is right as ar as this country goes. I'd opt for the scale stuff simply because you could have won TOC with an ARF.

FAI if you're talking about true international achievement. (Top Gun is, and TOC were, both international, but by invitation only.)

But YES! Maynard Hill's achievements are really the pinnacle of RC.

If you are talking personal achievements, then I'm still working on the highspeed inverted touch and go, without anything breaking off.

And I think my brother's working on holding the record for deepest planted engine. His personal best is an honest 8" to the prop hub. (Sorry Brad. )
