Default hinge tape?

I've been given a small, trainer type plane and it appears the elevator and rudder were held on by some sort of tape that has long since dried out and fell off. Any ideas what type of tape this was and can it be replaced ??

just go down to your local R/c shop and ask them for CA hinge strip. you can get them precut or you can the sheet to cut them out of. all you do it just place the hinges in the control surface then the fixed surface such as wing or stab and bend the control surface one way with your hands not very hard then using CA glue drop some onto the hinge if you can see it which you will be able to. but remember get everything really nice and tight without any gap then add the glue. if your R/C shop don;'t have them just order the precut ones from Tower Hobbies. there made by GP and there only $2.46 or something like that for 24 precut ones.

You could also use some covering to make the tape, works perfect.
