4 stroke fuel vs. 2 stroke
I inadvertently grabbed a jug of "4 cycle blend" fuel.
It's Byron 10% Nitro w/16% castor/synthetic oil blend. The top of the label reads "4 cycle blend".
What's the difference?
Can I run this in a 2 stroke?
I'm running an O.S. 40 LA.
Thanks for helping a newbie!

Thanks for your reply. I've been reading the long FAQ on fuel Q&A in the Engines & Fuels Forum (should probably have looked there first).
A guy at an LHS told me this fuel would be okay in my LA40, but when we ran it, every flight ended in a dead stick at the three or four minute mark.
I'm guessing the engines ran too hot because of the lower oil content. (?)
Wondering if I can add more castor to bring the content up.
Perhaps it's a question for the other forum, or the FAQ thread.

RE: 4 stroke fuel vs. 2 stroke
I did the same thing a few weeks ago. I was going to add extra castor into the fuel but in the end i just ran the engine a little rich. I wouldnt worry about it too much. just make sure you get the right fuel next time (i read the label on the bottle now) i know a few guys at my field only by fuel for a 4 stroke and have been putting it in their 2 strokes for years and have never had a problem with it

RE: 4 stroke fuel vs. 2 stroke
Most 4-strokes need higher oil in the 18 to 20% range. At the beginning engine manufactors thought that the new engine would not need extra oil, but found out that the 4-strokes run hotter then two. Some of the fuel companys have not caught on to this fact. Check out Wild Cat fuels. They list the oil content on their fuels. Dennis

Thanks for the feedback, folx. I have a clearer understanding of the issue now, and can use the fuel with confidence.
