The directions for installing the wing tip floats is to velcro them on. Seems like this isn't going to work. How would you mount these so they will stay on during water flying and come off during land flying? Thanks.

Default Velcro?

T2,
Loews sell some industrial strength Velcro. It's about 2 inches wide and both the adhesive and the hook-and-loop have unbelievable stick. You might want to try it.

Default floats

Actuall the way they suggest works quite well. I've been flying my SM for about a year, great palne and very good deal for the moeny. I'm using a Enya 50 CX, 11x6 APC. I fly it as much off land as water. If you want to mount flaots permanantely they really don't effect flying on land or water.

I have had two of these. (the original built-up versions) The first was given to me used, and the Velcro was weak, so the original owner had placed a wood screw in the front of the float to hold it in place. When I built my second one, I attached the floats permanently as I had learned from the first one that there was no reason to ever take them off.

I sheeted the last bay of each wingtip (instead of using cap strips) and then just glued them on.
