monokote over lustrecote?
Hello,
I landed my Chipmunk a little too hard and the wheels flexed back and knocked holes in the wing.
I cut the monokote back to the nearest ribs/edges.
I peeled the paint off about 1/2 inch around the part I cut out.
My question is, will monokote stick over the existing lustrecote paint?
Thanks,
Matt

RE: monokote over lustrecote?
I've never used lustercoat so I'm just going with what I know. The heat will melt the paint enough for the covering to stick, but it will also make the paint really ugly. Try to keep the iron away from the paint that will remain exposed and use the lowest possible heat.
By the way, when you cut back covering, it's best to leave it over length and then iron it down to the inside edges of the ribs (about 1/8") to give it more to hold on to rather than just the top of the rib.
