Multiply your Cubic Inches by 16.39 to get Cubic Centimeters.
A 40 size engine is:
0.40 Cubic Inches * 16.39 = 6.55 CC

We've been using this program in our engineering department for years. Works great, and is accurate enough for any normal application.

Doesn't it make you curious why glow engines are almost always referred to in cubic inches, or fractions thereof, but gas engines are referred to in cc's, when they are the larger displacement engines. Seems like it would be the other way around. It would be convenient if mfg's of both types would list displacements both ways for comparison's sake; I know some do, but few.
