How to figure out what cc engine is?

Default How to figure out what cc engine is?

is there a formula for figuring out how many cc a 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine is? how many cc's is a .40 2 stroke?

I don;t know if there is a formula bit if you look at the specs for the engine it should tell you or some of them should

Multiply your Cubic Inches by 16.39 to get Cubic Centimeters.

A 40 size engine is:

0.40 Cubic Inches * 16.39 = 6.55 CC

Cubic inches is cubic inches, no matter whether the engine is a 2-stroke or a 4-stroke, so the answer is yes as stated above.

We've been using this program in our engineering department for years. Works great, and is accurate enough for any normal application.

Doesn't it make you curious why glow engines are almost always referred to in cubic inches, or fractions thereof, but gas engines are referred to in cc's, when they are the larger displacement engines. Seems like it would be the other way around. It would be convenient if mfg's of both types would list displacements both ways for comparison's sake; I know some do, but few.
