first choice Radio
I have been using a very basic 4 channel Futaba. I would like to bye something mid price range to use as my first choice radio. I don't fly heli's, but my ambition is to fly multi-function Scale Warbirds someday.
Would like to know,
Best Radio and ideal number of channels and approx cost if possible.

RE: first choice Radio
Hi there are two schools of thought on this topic, Incremental and go for the gusto!
I made the mistake of taking the incremental approach, within 12 months I bought 3 radios. Started with a 6DA, by the time I finished training I had a T6X super. And then I saw the 9C. well long story short, By the best radio you can afford and fly!
PS most large scale planes require more channels and program mixing abilities.

RE: first choice Radio
Hi again Smoggy,
I would suggest that there is a middle course with radios.
I just bought a new JR2610 to supplement my old JR388 because I had run out of model memories as well as wanting a second frequency.
It seems to me that the 2610 (I assume that Futaba would have a comparable product) has enough features to keep you going for a good long time. 6 channels allows for flaps and gear, and the 10 model memory is not bad. All the stuff I use from the 388 is there, expo, dual rates, mixes etc etc.
Price here in Oz was pretty good too, got mine complete for about $480AU.
Regards
Terry

RE: first choice Radio
I bought (2) Airtronics VG6000 radios. I love them! They are very easy to program and the quality in my opinion is a bit better than Futaba. I use to only own Futaba about 12 years ago but they were the best then. I recently bought a new Futaba 6EXA and I didn't like it. I sold it off and bout the Airtronics and never looked back. With Airtronics you have full compatability with Hitec and JR.

I'll second the Airtronics RD6000. I have one and it is great. Simple to use and good quality. You can get these from Tower or look on ebay for a good used one. That's where I got mine for less than $150.

By the way BlackBaron, Airtronics (a pos shift system) is not compatible with Hitec ( a neg shift system), unless you have one of their convertible receivers and/or transmitters.
