Default Brakes?

I have heard of some larger scale airplanes having a brake system on it. The planes who have brakes, how do you keep them from nosing over??? Are the tails too heavy to be nosed over?

They will nose over pretty easy. Just like on a full scale, you have to use the brakes just enough to stop, but not enough to nose over.

Once you are on the ground, pulling back on the stick to keep the tail down helps.

wouldnt air brakes be better, then you can have wheel brakes for when you slow down.

The key to using wheel brakes on landing is to use them hardest when you first touch down, while you still have airflow over the tail, and therefore directional control. Once there isn't enough airflow and the tail surfaces lose authority, light braking is okay, but the likelihood of nosing over or ground looping dramatically increases.

I Guess you would have to make the brakes less agressive.
There are some manufacturers that make proportional numatic brake valves.
The Jet Tronics Proportional valve is the one I personally like.It can pulse the air to keep the wheels from locking.
Pulse rates can be adjusted per prefrence.
Check this link for more info: http://www.jetcatusa.com

You can lube the brake O-Ring in the drum if it is an o-ring style brake system like BVM.
http://www.bvmjets.com
These oils are used by the RC cars to fill their shocks. The higher the oil weight, the less aggressive your brakes will engage.
I use the 10 weight RC Car Shock oil.

I hope I could have been of assistance.
