Control horn and Plate alignment.
Does anyone know of a tool that I could buy that will align a control horn with the mounting plate on the control surface so that the screws will be perfectly aligned after drilling? Thanks for your replies.

I use small T-pins for this purpose. Push the T-pins through the control surface and eyeball them to make sure the pins are parallel to each other. Slap the back plate of the control horn on and double check to see if all the pins will go through the holes in the back plate. If not, remove the bad pin and try again. Once all the pins line up, remove them and drill the control surface with a 1/16" drill bit first, then go to the next larger size if necessary.

RE: Control horn and Plate alignment.
Hi, name's Ken(Starfighter). Very easy to do. Just get some 9/16" long servo screws(these are #2s, same as the control horn screw) and use the screw to drill the hole. How? Well, all you have to do is position the horn, make the initial hole (just puncture, NOT all the way through), put the horn back in place and screw it on. The base plate of the horn will keep the screw vertical and the correct relationship to the base. As is screws thru, the holes align correctly. I then apply some thin CA to harden things up.
Try this out. It really works!
