Best engine for Tiger 2

RE: Best engine for Tiger 2
I have the 40 size Tiger 2. It was a kit so maybe it is lighter than the ARF version (?).
I flew it for several years with an OS40FX. It was enough power but not great. After the 40FX blew its liner I put in a Magnum 46XLS and the extra power is nice. I don't think I'd want a 60 in mine. It would need a lot of lead in the tail and the good flight qualities of the Tiger might be affected (heavier wing loading, etc).
I think you be happy with any ball bearing 46 such as TT Pro 46, OS 46FX/AX or Magnum 46XLS. It also balances well with those engines.

Any 46 ball bearing engine will pull this plane around with authority. I have an OS 70FS on mine and it weighs 5.5 lbs with that motor. It flies like a rocket, will take off in 10 - 15 feet if I want it to, and will go straight up out of sight. I don't do much flying at full throttle. You're probably gonna love how this airplane flies.

Dear Plane Freek,...
You never mentioned if you were looking for a two cylce or four stroke for your Tiger 2. I "assembled" the Tiger 2 ARF and installed a Saito 72 in mine. This combination worked very nicely. I competed in Sportsman Pattern with this airplane and did very well.
You will absolutely love this airplane!!
Sincerely,
Steve T.
P.S. I just read a review of the O.S. 70 FL in RCM. If you are on a budget, the 70 FL may get you into a four stroke at a reasonable price.

RE: Best engine for Tiger 2
I had a kit built Tiger 2 from 1995 thru 2004. It flew nice with a SuperTiger GS45.
A 10x7 prop gave high speed, with an 11x4 it flew nice and slow. It spent it's final
days with an O.S. 40LA and needed a very long take off run, but it did fly.
Years of abuse and hasty repairs brought it's weight up, and caused massive
misalignment. Yet it still flew Ok. I'd be a bit concerned about propeller to ground
clearance with a fourstroke. Mine had barely enough with an 11 inch prop.
