Hey all, Im mounting a saito 1.20 on my funtana but will have a hard time keeping the 5.25 firewall distance that H9 wants. Any suggestions?

I was planning to fly the same combination. What is the problem? Is the engine too far forward on the mount?

Yep. Too much of a good thing I suppose. If I wanted to keep the prop in the recomended spot I would have to drill a large hole in the firewall for the carb. Also the mix needle will hit the mount screws on the mount provided. I have an alum. mount that works nicely but back side of prop will be right at 6 in. from firewall, a full 3/4" more than requested and it looks like the cowl wont extend out enough.
Thanks for the reply. I know lots of people have done this, I just want to know what they did! I would like to avoid hacking up the pretty cowl if I can, but if thats what has to be done then lets get it rolling! [sm=pirate.gif]

I looked at the manual at hanger's site. I saw there is a box up front to mound the motor mount. Can you cut the box down to mover the mount rearward 3/4". This might be an option. Just mark, saw off 3/4" and add 1/4" ply firewall. Jim

Jim, thank you for your input. That is a very feasable option. This sounds like the best looking option at this point. I was hoping for a quick fix, I want to get this bird up and flying!!
Thanks again for your help. Mark

Hey Mark,

How did you ever make out with mounting your engine? I am to that step now, same plane, same engine. I am looking to mount mine inverted. I also ordered the GP 1.20 to 1.80 engine mount (it's adjustable).

Got any photos?
