Kwik-fill fueling valve
I am installing a kwik fueling valve on my plane since it has a cowling. But my question is, how do i set it up. The valve would be installed inside the fuselage i am guessing and not the cowl. If its in the fuse and your gas tank tubes are in the cowl, do you drill holes in the firewall to run the fuel tube into the fuse to the valve and run the other back into the cowl to the carb? Any help would be appreciated.

Fill Valve
I would set the valve to a third line only and not in your fuel fill line. If this is the valve I think it is, grit can get under the O-ring and cause an air leak, especially on a gas engine with a pumper carb. I speak from experience in this case. In my opinion, a fuel dot is easier and less problem.

This is the fuel valve that i am speaking of.

The plane is the Kyosho P51. Its my first plane with a cowling and i am not sure how the valve is installed. The bottom of the engine is the bottom of the cowling. There is a little room there but a little is cut out for air vent.
What do you mean install it to a third line?

Find a convenient spot on the side of the fuselage near the cowl. Drill a hole and mount your fill valve. Basically all the valve does is provide a way to easily fill your tank with out disconnecting the fill line from the engine. Your tank will have 2 lines one that goes to the carb and one that goes to the pressure tap on the muffler. Simply splice into the line that runs to the engine putting the filler valve between the fuel tank and the engine. When you insert the probe into the filler valve, the fuel will be shut off to the engine and will go into your tank. These valves are very easy to install. Some people have had problems with them leaking but I have never had a problem with them.

I absolutely love the the filller that your talking about. As explained it just splices right into the engine's supply line. It acts as a check valve when filling so fuel only goes on way. Straight to the tank. When you buy one of thes, go ahead and get you a repair kit. Everytime I start up my engine I place my finger over the filler valve as if it had a leak and I was sealling it off with my finger. As long as there's no change in engine sound I know my filler is working properly. As soon as I notice a change, I pop in the re-build kit and I'm off. (now out of the 3 filler's I've had so far, I've ran into this problem once, and remedied it just as I've said.) Keep good fuel tubing on it, and check those connections after every 2 or 3 trips to the field. They're convenient and a great way to gas up your plane, just gotta take care of 'em and they work great.

Dave,
I must admit that, that these quick filler valves are a great idea. But, in the long run they become a pain. The more gadgets you start putting on your planes, the more things that can go wrong. Use the philosophy of KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) and you will have less headaches. I am sold on the 3-line set-up using 2 clunks in the fuel tank.

Equest- Could you go over the details of that three-line set-up. Exactly how do you set up each line going into the tank? Does it matter where the dot on the fuselage is located in relation to the tank itself? Thanks!

I'm with Ed_Moorman,
go with a fuel dot, doesn't matter where the dot is installed, one line to muffler, one line to engine, one line to dot, most fuel tanks show the installation with instructions.
Have a goodun,John.

Redford,
on a YS engines use this method:

for other engines use this:

If you want more info form RCU do a search on fuel line setups, hope this helps..

Fill valve
I usually make a small "L" bracket and mount it on the firewall where it is accessable through a hole drilled in the side of the cowl.
However, afer some problems with one on a current X300, I have changed all mine to the "fuel dot-2 clunk arrangement" and like it much better. BTW, I mounted the fuel dot on the same bracket.

Fuel dots
If you are running a fully-enclosed engine and muffler with no
access to any fuel line, using a fuel dot, and running pressure off
of the muffler to the tank, where does the excess runoff of fuel
come out of once your tank is full? Normally I would disconnect
the muffler pressure line at the muffler for this, but I will be using
metal exhaust tubing in-the-cowl with a pressure tap off of the
header. Can I run a fueler valve as a tee spliced into the pressure
line and tap into it from the outside just for fuel runoff? Why can't
we have little-bitty fuel gauges in our tanks?!!

when my tank is full the excess comes out the exhaust, second question, don't see why not.third question,we do,cut a window in the side of the plane at the fuel tank then cover with clear something.
