grounding remote glow
i just put a remote glow in my ultra sport and i read another thread about remote glows and someone mentioned grounding it. this remote glow came off of my raptor .30 helicopter and was mounted on the engine mounting bolt itself, so it was grounded to the engine. on the ultra sport, i can't mount the remote glow directly on the engine mounting bolt. what part of the dummy glow plug should i run a wire from to ground this, and would it work if i didn't ground it? what exactly does grounding the thing do? sorry, i know these are pretty dumb questions but i just want to clear this up
thanks,
bill

RE: grounding remote glow
The ground is required to complete a circuit from the dummy plug to the real plug. the center post of the dummy will connect to the pin of the glow plug, and the threaded portion of the dummy is grounde to the engine in some manner. You can use an automotive connector with a crimp connector that the wire attaches to and has a ring designed for a screw to secure it to whatever. Pick one with a ring large enough to act as a 'washer' where the dummy plug screws into the mounting bracket, and run that wire to one of the screws that holds the engine to the engine mount.

RE: grounding remote glow
you use metal bolts to secure the motor to the engine mount right? Get an eye connector put it between the screw head and the engine case and solder the wire to that and run the wire back to the ground on the unit.
