Default Pull - Pull cable adjustment

What is the correct tension for pull pull cables? The manual for my Dave Patrick Ultimate 40 says to take out the slack only. That seems a bit vague to me. If I do that, I can still move the control surface without moving the servo and it seems too loose. ?????

Not nearly as tight as a guitar string. If the slack is gone, it should work OK. It is typical in a pull-pull setup that you can move the servo a bit and the servo arm does not move. this is especially true when you have a lot of throw (e.g. 45 degrees each way). I have found that it is not all that critical. I am using pull-pull on several planes ranging from .40 fun flies to 80 inch sport planes. On my stinger 120, I have three pull-pull systems (one for rudder and one for each elevator half). this keeps the servo weight nearer to the center of the plane.

My plane has 3 pull pull systems and sounds just like what you have. Thanks for the advice.

Just tight enough so when you move the controlled surface that there is very little slop before the servo moves.

Snug enough that when the controls are released, the control surface returns to neutral, and has almost no free play. Excessive free play can contribute to flutter.

Like Dave Patrick says, just barely take out the slack.
