RE: plane stands
I bought one of these and love it. I've purchased quite a few of their products and the quality is wonderful! If you want to build your own you can look at the pics of this one.

RE: plane stands
I put it in the back of my Explorer. Fits nicely in there. It weighs 12 pounds so if you used some bungee cords or something soft you could bungee down the wing/fuse and throw it in the back of the truck without fear of it blowing out.
Just a guess. Not sure if bungee cords are the best choice or not.

RE: plane stands
My carrier is about 2' wide and is 6'4" long at the base. My truck has a 6'6" bed so it doesn't move around much. I have a fiberglass bed lid so I usually just use rubber bands to secure the wing. Using little bungees I'm pretty sure it would ride just fine in an open bed. Having the base of the carrier longer than the wing span means the wing is protected from sliding forward or back. I don't have plans or detailed photos. My brother built it for me.
