Default Supertiger 61 What prop??

What do you folks recommend for a supertiger 61. Its going in a Femco f4u. I have an 11/7 masterscrew on it now.

I used a MA 12x6 on my TT61 on a trainer and it worked well. A 13x5 or 13x6 might work for you. My engine really didn't like these but some people use them. I tried the APC 13x4W "3D-fun fly" prop and it worked really well on my trainer. Speed was low and power was great. But, at $8 each, they were too expensive. I broke 3 of them in one day (they were all i had with me that day) and went back to the MA 12x6 the next time out.

A 12-7should work & I suspect that a 13-5 would also be OK, but airspeed will fall a bit.

We normally run an 11 x 7 or 11 x 8 prop for most use. A 12 x 6 would be used on a slow-flying, trainer-type of model.

You want your SuperTigre .61-size engine to turn in the mid-to-high-12,000's when leaned to just rich of peak RPM on the ground.

I have an older APC 61 tiger and it runs great with an apc 12X7 in the front of an older pattern plane

As Bax said the 11-7 prop was the prop of choice for many years and still works great.

My ST 61's ran around 12,700 with a APC 11-7. The plane really moves out in the air.

Enjoy,

JIm

Hi!
For most sport planes a 12x6 APC would be just fine, or a 13x4, 13x5 APC.
11x7 is a little small on anything more than a rather fast pattern type model. 11x7.5 or 11x8 might be a better choice here.
Any MA prop will be a bad choice performance wise.

Regards!

Femco is a brand name

A 4FU is a bent wing Corsair WW II fighter scale model.

Enjoy,

Jim
