Removing old tape residue from foam parts?
Does anyone know of a solvent or cleaner that will remove dried masking tape residue from expanded styrene parts without melting the foam? Denatured alcohol didn't touch it.
I have an old Byron Pitts kit that has this on every part, foam, fiberglass, and the canopy[:@] I have no clue how to get this dried crispy stuff off the parts without melts the foam or canopy.

Have you tried " GOO GONE " ? Most hardwares and possibly Wally world and maybe even a drug store should have it. Just be sure to try a small spot first. Another thought but this will take a lot of care and thats your heat gun, I use it to get off old stickers etc. ENJOY !!! RED

RE: Removing old tape residue from foam parts?
I found any solvent that would remove the residue would melt the foam, Goo Gone worked well on the glass cowl. I went to True Value and spoke to a knowledgeable man who recommended using masking tape to remove the crispy goo. This Worked!!!!!!!!!! It takes time and patients but it gets off enough gunk to be servicable. Put the new tape over the old stuff, rub until it gets hot and pull it off. Repeat unitl it's all gone. I used several feet of tape to get all the crud off. There was a very slight residue left on the canopy that I removed with an orange oil cleaner. The parts are as good as new.
