Default What size starter for 25 cc gas

I don't have a spring starter on this engine and my arm is killing
me from flipping it over. My little starter has started it once, but
it's too small. Will a heavy duty starter that is listed to 1.8 cu
really start a 25 cc (1.5 cu) gas engine? I really don't want to buy the 250 dollar starter just for this engine. What's the best thing
to get for the dollar?

thanks in advance,
craig

Keep in mind that the size of the battery you are using can also make a difference. You can have a good starter but your little 7ah field battery may not do it (mine won't). I just bought a Sullivan Dynatron ($75) to start my ZDZ 40 (@ 24 volt they claim it will start any 2.4 engine and may start engines up to 3.0) I have been using my trolling motor battery for years now, some folks laugh but by the end of the day someone has asked to use it for something.

I am able to start my G-23`s with a Sullivan Delex which is asmall model.Have mine mounted on one of their battery boxes.Takes 12 1.25 ni-cads.You need voltage & amps. Have been toying with buying an automotive jump-start unit.Seems to have other uses also.Good Luck!

Terrell, I used the same setup as you for years and never had a problem until I bought a Saito 150. I tried my trolling battery and never went back. I also use a super nova at the field for some electric packs and tried the field battery one day, only got two or three charges before the low voltage alarm went off. When I go to the field with smaller stuff it is nice not to carry that 100lb battery.

Craig I don`t know what I did to get to this? I must have sneezed with my mouse in my hand. Iam new at this. a old dog trying anew trick.I have yet to figure out how to post an add!If I messed up too bad Iam sorry. I will pass along my bit of wisdom that I tell my new pilots I teach. IT IS BETTER TO WALK A THOUSAND FEET FOR ONE PIECE,THAN ONE FOOT FOR A THOUSAND PIECES. Good flying AMA 14958

Most gas engines I choke till it fires with a wide open throttle,
then i bring back the throttle and open choke, flip a few times at high idle and they start

My Tower Hobby Heavy Duty starter with a good charge on my Hobbico 12volt 7amp battery starts my G23 and my RCS140 all day without a problem. Tower sells this starter for 26.99. I've been having it for about three years and it still works like new. Can't beat the price either.

Thanks for your posts. I bought the dynatron
and it starts it great with a regular 12 V battery! I plan on getting the
Miller setup when I finish the P40 with a g62.

thanks again,
craig

The Miller reduction gear set up is fine but it uses 24 volt battery system where as the Sullivan Model 4 two handed starter starts my G 62 very easily with a 7 amp 12 volt gel cell battery. Just a lil fuel for thought.

when i was running boats--(picco 90),s-i was told to loosen the glow plug a little--after the motor started -tighten it back up--worked for me- how come kamakazi pilots wore helmutes ?
