Default Got a free plane - need help please

My bro-inlaw's dad had an old plane just sitting in his shop that someone gave him a while back. He was unsure how long ago. He said I could have it if I wanted, of course I'm not gonna pass that up. I'm not sure exactly what it is. I know it is probably a few years old. It has a Kalt G-22 in it that turns over fine. I am going to be fixing it up over the next few months, and I have some initial questions, and I'll need alot of help from yall on this thing.

1. Anybody know what model it is, anyway to tell the approximate age?
2. Best way to remove covering? I started last night, ended up using a heat gun, seemed to work ok. Some pieces left some coloring on the wood, do I sand?
3. What should I do to recondidtion the engine? I'd like to find out if it will start asap.
4. I want to replace all the servos and all that, but what is that big servo in the middle? It's for the elevator.

I'll have many more questions later, but that's all I can think of right now.

>You found it. Use heat to soften the adhesive and remove while
>hot. Most people do sand the residual coloring off. If you are
>going to cover those areas with the same color or a darker color
>you can leave them alone.

3. What should I do to recondidtion the engine? I'd like to find out if it will start asap.

4. I want to replace all the servos and all that, but what is that big servo in the middle? It's for the elevator.

>That servo looks VERY MUCH like the old style 1/4 scale servos.
>While still useable, the servos out today are smaller, lighter and
>as or more powerful that the old 1/4 scale. Swap it out and save
>several ounces.

I'll have many more questions later, but that's all I can think of right now.

thanks for the help Campy and dbacque. I appreciate it.

dbacque, I really thank you for identifying it, now I know what to reference when I'm looking for stuff. I'm almost tempted to buy the kit for spare parts, since it's only $125
