Default strip covering or put over existing covering

I want to attempt to recovering job on a new plane in my own scheme and ask should I strip off orignal covering which is done very nicly, OR can I cover over the existing covering?

Strip it. You'll have a ton of bubbles and you'd be adding unwanted weight.

Ditto... Adding unnecessary weight is a bad idea, and the hassle of getting a second covering satisfactorily over the first is a non-starter IMO...
