Default Air Flow Around a Nose Cone

OK Guys;
Here’s a good question for you. (It’s primarily a philosophical one, but some thing to think about)

I have an OS Max 40 with a 10 x 6 prop, mounted on a Fun One – it works great and all is well.

BUT; I broke my 1.5” Spinner the other day and all I had available was a 2.5” which I mounted without a problem… but it looked odd … then I realized what my concern was… the backplate extended about ¼” passed the Carburator and was only 1/8” in front of it.

My question is – How well will this work with the main airflow being diverted away from the Carb?

I was concerned enough that I removed the spinner and mounted a shaped aluminium propnut which now just covers the prop hub.

The Carb intake is now fully exposed the prop blast and will have the effect of turbo charging (I think).

So what does everyone think about the airflow around a nose cone?

Default RE: Air Flow Around a Nose Cone

it's a none issue. hell all 4-stroke engines have the carb buried behind the engine and have no problems. Have a couple 2 strokes with 3" spinners that pratically cover the whole engine with no problems.
