Default Where do I have plans copied?

I don't want to use the original plans to a kit I am building, so I've gone all over the place trying to find somewhere to copy it. No one can reproduce it accurately. All the copy and art places are telling me they will be off by up to 1/2" over 36". That's not good. Where does everyone go to get their copies made?

Try a Blueprinting company. They should be able to make scaled copies.

Most any office supply store (Office Depot, Staples, Office Max, etc....) that has a copy center can make them for you. I have mine copied at Office Depot all the time. Take a few minutes to make sure the copy is the same size as the original. Just lay down the original and place the copy over it, you should have everything line up. If it's not correct reject the copy and have them do it again. A good store will run it again until they get it correct.

Most of these stores can also scale up or down any thing you want. I've used mine to scale up a 40 sized plan to a 60 sized plane with no problems at all

A lot of copy machines have built in errors because they (Secret Service) don't want you to be able to reproduce MONEY! I think there is even a law about this. I run into this at work when I run my CAD drawings through a copier/printer they are always distorted but if I send them through a CAD plotter they are perfect.

Sounds like conspiracy theory to me.

RCKen:
Do you know what percentage they scaled the drawings up to go from a 40 size to a 60 size?
Thanks Kev

Yes, we blew them up 11%. They were plans for a Balsa USA Thunder Bug 40 that we increased to a 60 size plane.

By going to a Fedex Kinko you can do all the copying yourself, including choosing the scaling. Many places that you might want to have copy something for you will not do it for fear of violating copyright laws.

I've always had plans copies at Kinkos. No problems with distortion.

Same for me at Kinkos...Turned out just fine. I also make a set that is reduced to a size I can easily carry around with me so that I can study the plans more easily.
