muffler-smoke tap stripped. How to repair?
Hi, I have a DA-100 with DA muffler that has one of the smoke tap stripped. I'm planning to tap a new hole, but I need your opinion on how to fill the old hole. Should I: 1) fill the hole with solder? 2) fill the hole with JB Weld? or 3) tap it bigger and put a screw in it to seal it? Or is there a better solution?
Thanks!

Find any screw that can grip and J&B it into the hole. Only thing I'd do "special" would be to grind the screw to length so it just filled the depth of the hole.

You can also buy the next size larger tap. They are made in several sizes. Retap the hole for that size and you won't have to move your smoke tap to an area where it might not operate correctly.

Actually, why don't you J&B the pressure fitting into the hole. The J&B will get a purchase on the stripped threads of the hole and on the good threads of the pressure fitting.
I J&B most of my pressure fittings into their holes and they aren't stripped. It insures no leaks and no lost pressure fitting. And I plan to use muffler pressure on that engine forever.
