Default Is there a large stick that would fit a 50cc

I just recently made the jump to gas, and can tell already that I do not want to fly glow anymore. Flying the my Ultra Stick 60 is a blast, but my glows will go away soon.

Is there a stick type plane out there that will match well with a DA 50?

If not what is a really good 30cc +/- for the Ultra Stick 120 that is of good quality and easy starts?

I have a stik produced in the 80’s with a 57cc engine. Don’t know the manufacturer but it is 96” span and 35 pounds.

Midwest at one time made a Giant Stick. You may be able to get plans to scratch one.

Check with Midwest - at one time they were selling some of their older plans.

Great Planes makes a Giant Big Stik that works well with a 32cc gasser

But hell, the stik is such a basic design it would be easy to build one from scratch or enlarged plans

You might want to check out the RCM Magazine plans service at [link=http://www.rcmmagazine.com]www.rcmmagazine.com[/link] . They have several plans for "Stick" type planes. It would be fairly easy to blow one of these up to a size that you can put a 50cc gasser on.

Hope this helps

Agreed. A stick has a constant cord wing, so find a semi-symetrical wing shape and blow it up to about 15" or 16" cord. Cut out 20--30 ribs and your 1/2 way there. Tail surfaces are easy. Throw some sticks down on the building board and start framing. Sheet the stabilizers and leave the control surfaces open.

The fuse is nothing more than a big box. Just draw parallell lines and keep the incidence at ZERO degrees on the tail and wing. Put in 2* down thrust on the firewall. Frame it with balsa sticks and then run a lite ply doubler on the outside untill you get past the back of the wing saddle. Finish the tail end of the fuse with balsa sheeting. Sand and cover.

Ratios for how long to build the fuse and where to put the stab are pretty easy. 3:1 ratio from the CG. If you got 12" in front of the CG--then you need 36" behind the CG. Fuse length should be about 75%--80% of total wingspan.

Take a look at the Prime Stik: http://www.airflair.com/flaircat1.html#PrimeSport

I flew mine on a Saito 300 which is 50cc, albeit glow. At one time it had a US 41, and flew well with that, too.

This model builds and fly well.

Have a look at the "Stinger" (by Lanier - I think) it is a basic AC that comes in many sizes - including the 'Giant' scale that you are looking for.

It is a mid-wing Stick type plane and it'll do any thing that you want!

Here's a site, if you look around you can find both the Kits and the ARF;
