Default Nexstar Mods

I have a nexstar trainer. Its been sitting around getting a nice dust cover. So this weekend i got it out an installed futaba 3004 on the ailerons an put working flaps on it. Its powered with an O.S 70 now, But I'm thinking of putting an ol th 46 on it which has more power but don't sound as kewl. I'm wanting to know how to build a box with drop doors for this plane to drop candy an such from. I had a friend who had one that he had bought with the box already installed, But he lost it two weeks ago to a bad elevator servo(ts-53). So now i have nothing to go off of. I want to put it where the bat&rx sit, an move those behind the servo stand.I don't really care if it has two doors or one, as long as i can open an close with a servo........Any help with this would be great....Thanks

RC Ken, that looks good, what do you recomend for the hinge setup?. An if that door stayed back after opening, when i landed on asphalt wouldn't it drag on the deck?Thats a good starting point though. I was thinking of something i could open an close.

The problem with being able to open and then close it is that it's a lot more complicated mechanism. The more complicated the more chance for screw ups. Put a small piece of velcro on the outside of the hatch, and a small piece on the fuselage and when the hatch blows open it will blow backwards and the velcro will hold it in place until you land.

Thats a good idea ken. What is that that lets the door down? Is that like one of those flexing throttle control wires?

Use a piece of pushrod that extends out into the door/hatch to hold it closed. Then when you move the servo it will pull back the pushrod and the weight of the candy inside will open the hatch.
