Default What prop size for magnum 52 four stroke

I have a magnum 52 four stroke on a sig 4star. Right now its turning a 12x5 prop but it seems a little sluggish and hard to slow down on landings. I was thinking of going to a 12x4 prop
or an 11x6 or 7. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

typically those motors run a 12x6 real well. It should be a rocket on the bottom end with that 12x5 prop, and should slow down quickly. You have something odd going on.

I have a master airscrew 12/4 "k" series on a magnum 52 mounted on a Eagle 2. Flies great. I have used a 12/5 and a 12/6 in MA and APC but my 52 likes the MA 12/4
It pulls the plane better. Engine will turn 9800 on 15% four stroke fuel revs quick and slows down for a nice and slow landing. I didn't like this engine untill I found out that
the idle needle was turning itself in while running causing a lot of dead stick landings. I adjusted idle and siliconed the needle, no problems since.

This weekend I instaled a magnum 52 on my Goldberg cub, ran 4 tanks of fuel on the test stand before it was mounted.
At the feild it was 81 degrees and I had broke it in at about 40 degrees. I was using the recommend 12x5 breakin prop and was having all kinds of deadsticks due to over heating, also was running it rich. I finally broke the prop on a deadstick landing and switch to a 11x6 to see if this would help. Reset the HS needle on the rich side with a tach and tried it again.
This time she keep running, a little sluggish but no dead stick, flew the 12oz tank out at about half throttle. Landed , let it cool down, refuled and ajusted the HS 300 rpm from peak. Took off again and run the it close to WO the whole tank, but she was starting to sound much better. Landed and let it cool down again. I did this for 4 tanks of fuel, the 5th tank I stuck a 12x6 on and it ran very well with it.
I think mine was not quite broke in and the 12x5 was a little to much to soon. But it`s getting better with each tank.
Maybe yours needs more time on it too?

I had a PT-19 from Hobby People that I flew with the 52 and an APC 12x6. It ran beautifully. I think it's a great combination.
