Default *Ball Link Spacer/Needed Or Not*

I am using the Dubro 4-40 ball links and was looking at my setup on my WH Extra 300 and was wondering if I could loose the spacer between the ball and the servo arm. That would put the linkage a lot closer to the servo arm and might be a better setup. How are others setting theirs up?

As long as the movement of the linkage is mostly a straight shot, I wouldn't think it would matter. If the movement would cause the angle of the pushrod to be higher or lower than the servo arm where the ball link would hit then you'd need the spacer. I can't really think of a time when that really happens though. If maybe the reason is to keep the ball from being pressed into the plastic/nylon arm, just use a thin metal washer.
