Sounds like have too much throw in your tail wheel. If you have D/R try decreasing the throw on the rudder or try to minimize the throw on the tail wheel.
Next increase the throttle slow enough to control the direction of the plane.

r/c,
If your problem occurs just before takeoff it is likely not the tailwheel as I would guess that it is already off the ground. My thought is that you may need to check your wheel alignment. Some disagree, but most say you need a bit of toe-in (front of wheel angled inward) for stable handling. I dial in about 1.5-2 degrees of toe-in and control is not a problem.
Give it a try and good luck!

I agree, toe-in works. Also, if you're holding up elevator during the take-off roll, try easing off very early in the process. Holding up too long will cause rotation before the plane is ready to fly.
Good Luck.

The ideas above are good. If this is your first tailwheel plane, you are finding out they are not as stable as a nosewheel. You will learn to keep it straight with some practice.
Make sure it is going straight before you give full power. Use only small control movements. When the plane starts to turn, you must make an immediate small correction to straighten it before it gets too far off course. Keep practicing and you'll get it. The Four Star can fly and land very nicely.
