Default hinging robarts

I want to install robart hinges in my Suoer Chipmunk.

It is already slotted for CA hinges from the factory. Do you think it wise to put robarts into those slits, would they be strong enough?,,or maybe move them over to more solid wood?

thanks--------JIM

I think you could put them in those slots without any problem, although it wouldnt be hard to change them either.

If you use gorilla glue or probond it will easily fill in any precut hinge slot still open around the hinge.

I always glue in back up blocks when using Robart hinges in a scratch/kit build to give them more wood for support and glue surface.
Since you can't do that -you might want to consider the plastic flat hinges with metal hinge pins(dubro)-you already have the slots-they should work well-use pacer hinge or canopy glue. I have switched to these style hinges on 1/4 scale vs Robart on most of my builds-less trouble and hinge is less noticable.
