Default OS 1.60 FX fuel burn rate?

Hello,

I am building the SIG EXTRA 300 XS with an OS 1.60FX two strok. It came with only a 15.2 Oz fuel tank. Does anyone know what the fuel burn rate is for this engine?

Thanks

It depends on your flying style. I have that same engine in a Flair Stearman, with scale like flight, it will burn about 1oz per minute.

I had one with a Perry pump on it. It was in a 13 lb. Giles and I flew IMAC type flying and I flew it hard. I had a 20 oz. tank in it and had very little left after 10 mins. of actual air time. That converts to about 1.75 ozs. per min.

That's what I thought. When I build a 40 size ship with an OS 46 or 50 (or now 55) I use a 10 oz tank. So I was thinking a 1.60 should have a 32 oz tank.... Well dead stick landings are so quite

I think 32 oz. is a bit of overkill. 24 would give you lots of reserve and if your conservative 20 would do.

Hi

I have an OS160FX in a WW1 Albatros DVa Biplane. Usually run at half to 3/4 throttle.

Have a 24 oz Du-Bro fuel tank. Get runs around 12 > 14 minutes with reasonable reserve.

Works for me.

I understand that 1 1/2 oz per cubic inch for two strokes and 1 oz for 4 strokes gets you in the ballpark.

Man thats alot of fuel. I still go to school and buying planes and fuel is a stretch with 40 sized planes. If i could afford a 160 size plane i couldn't afford the fuel. Maybe ill just skip to gas
