It's been a while since I've flown a plane with a nitro engine and I can't remember. I fly all gas now but just bought a Saito 82 to put on a little stick plane to play around with. Can you use the Higley's Aluminum Hub on top of the prop washer to hold the prop on or do you put the prop nut that comes with the engine onto of the prop washer and then put the Higley's Hub on? Looks kinda funny if you install the prop, prop washer, nut, and then Higley's Safety Spinner Hub. I can't remember if the aluminum is strong enough to hold the prop on.

On my .82 I tried using the aluminum Higley lock nut along with the Higley Aluminum Hub. I would put the saito prop washer on first, then snug up the aluminum nut, then tighten down the Higley spinner nut. After having the threads strip out of the aluminum nut twice, I went back to the prop nut and lock nut that came with the engine. There isn't enough threads to use the nut/ locknut and then the Higley Hub. I've used the Higley Hub/ Higley locknut on my .91 Saito without the stripping problems. ( photos are the .91 and the homemade wrench to hold the locknut while tightening the hub)

I have used the 7mm safety spinner with the light lock with good results.

Thanks guys. Here is a pic of how I had my Saito 82 set up with the aluminum spinner nut and it looks like I had nothing but the prop washer and the aluminum nut. I never had a problem but just can't remember.

As long as it dosn't get lean you will be OK. If it leans out it will throw the prop. Think about getting the thin nut in my pic.
