Supertigre G60 Bluehead Gaskets
I need the backplate and front housing gaskets for my Supertrige G60 Bluehead. I have not been able to find a recent post telling where a person could get these gaskets. Is it possible to make a gasket from gasket material bought at an auto parts store? What would be the thickness of the gasket material?
Thank you, Ralph White, Neoga, IL

Yes, you can make your own gaskets. I've never tried gasket material because I couldn't find any that was thin enough. I have always used 3 X 5" index cards. Measure the diameter of the backplate or rear bearing, then use a compass to mark a circle on the index card. Now mark the locations of the mounting screws. A dial calliper is best for taking the measurements but a simple ruler is good enough if that's all you have.
Now that you have the big hole and the four small holes marked, cut out the big hole with a new #11 blade. Slip the card over the back plate to see if it's a good fit. If so, use a pencil to trace around the outside of the back plate. Use a scissors to roughly cut outside of your pencil line. Now use a 1/8" hole punch to make the holes for the mounting screws. Place the gasket on the backplate again and screw the backplate to the crankcase. Use your hobby knife to trim the card stock edge flush with the motor assembly.
When you're ready to reassemble the motor, apply oil to the new gasket before putting everything back together.

Brown paper lunch bags make perfect gaskets also. I cut the hole place over back plate install then poke screw holes with tooth pick and put screws in then trim super simple. Also I put a little oil on paper just before tightening.
