extra battery for retracts?
After reading some of the reviews and ratings for the hangar 9 spitfire mkII I noticed a new owner stating that they will add a battery just for the retracts. This is to avoid battery drain in case the landing gear should hang up. Is this a good idea or even necessary? And if it is a good idea how would you go about hooking that up. I am a newbie and I'm still learning the best way to go about things. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Everyone!

RE: extra battery for retracts?
i did it one of my brids for one simple reason, i need the thw whight so insteed of putting led i put and extra battery
the way i did it was
take a "y" harness and cut the positiv (red) wire of the end that goes into the rx
rx -> Y
one end of the "y" gets - batt-> switch -> y
the other end of the y gets goes strait to the servos

I thought that was the point of a retract servo.
You flip the switch it runs its course and then cuts off. It wont lock up and drain the battery.

That is how a retract servo works, but if the gear hangs up before the servo reaches either end, you could stall the servo.
