Default Need bulk kevlar thread, braided about 1mm diameter. Where?

Worlds longest thread title about thread. I bought some kevlar that is braided and about 1mm in diameter from a fellow at Perry last year. He wasn't here this year. Does anyone know where I can buy this product in bulk quanities? Thanks for your response.

try a police supply store. They should be able to put you in contact with a mfg. for bullet proof vests.

This may be what you are looking for...Kevlar

here is the info that they give with the description:

ARAMID (Kevlar 29) RIGGING CABLE
Totally eliminates problems caused by metal flying wires, tail bracing, pull-pull cable systems and more! Replace that nasty wire with this non-conductive DuPont KEVLAR 29 material. 180 pound strength. Measures .025 OD with circular cross section. Dark Green in color - can be painted. No “fuzzies” like other brands, 20 feet. $10.00

hope this helps! I used the kevlar in my 1.20 Ultra Stick pull pull setup.

I have bought it from kite shops. It might not be their top seller anymore, but worth a try and could possibly even buy it locally.

Do a search on the Net for Fire Line or Ripcord up to 100lb flavor
It's fishing line....ala' Kevlar..

Been using Spider Line from Wally World for a few years in 60lb flavor for tail rigging and pull pull..no problems yet..and my antenna loves it..

2 cents worth..

Try a fiberglass supply house or marine supply store. Kevlar is used in high performace boat hulls. There is a magazine called Modern Boat Building. I can't get my hands on one just yet. There are several suppliers listed. When I find one I'll post another reply with other suppliers. Here is what I found so far.

Fiberglass Coatings, Inc. 1-800-272-7890
Gougeon Brothers, Inc. 517-684-7286

When in doubt ALWAYS check McMaster-Carr. They have the .025 diameter Kelvlar thread at $10 for 100 yards. Part number 8800K42 at:

Let me know if this stuff met your needs, "fwman" -- it sure beats hell out of the K&S price for a teeny spool. Since you're in Columbus, McMaster-Carr would have the stuff to you in a day, most likely. I think the cost of shipping is built into the unit price. They're also a good source for Garrolite (fiberglass board) used in fabricating hinges and scale trailing edge stock.

Default BIG THUMBS UP! THANKS.

I'm sorry. This stuff was exactly what I needed. I ordered the middle size (90 lb test), and receive it in two days. I'm going to get the larger size as well. I meant to post a thank you, but I've been covering my BUSA Eindecker 90 for the last few days. Shipping was included in the price. Super site and Super advice. Thanks again.
