Gear box for Starters
Can you guys help me out....
I am interested in these gear box starter extenders or something like that. I guess you attach it to your existing starter and provides much more torque....
Can one of these be added to the Dynotron? Which ones?
Also, Do I need a dynotron if I have a Hobbico with a torque box attachment? It's a 90, but I have a Saito 180 in my latest plane....
Maybe the torque box with the Hobbico still won't turn that baby....
Any suggestions?

Both Tower Hobbies and Miller Products have a system that you mount your sullivan 24 volt starter to. You really need to go to 24 volts to get it to work properl.

I also looked into one of the reduction starters like you are talking about. I got a price of something like $199. And this was only the adapter to fit my starter. Not worth it in my opinion. The battery pack that bolts directly to your starter should turn the 1.80. I have a 1.80 and I use a Cline Regulator so the back flip method wont work for me. I have good luck starting mine as follows but it does take two people. I completely close the throttle and start turning the engine with the starter. Once it starts to spin I open the throttle to the idle position and it fires right up. The engine will turn easier with the throttle closed because no air is in the cylinder to compress. Once the starter has it going momentum will keep it going until it fires.

RE: Gear box for Starters
So it's called a reduction starter.. OK.
The idea behind it to increase the torque for a lower powered starter to turn over the engine right?
Can you provide some links so I can look at the attachments?
So the Sullivan package that includes the 12 sub c batteries will turn the 180?
