Home Made Iron Sock?
Hello,
Is there anything out there that I can use instead of a Covering Iron Sock? I have an ARF that I need to clean the wrinkles out, but I don't have a sock for my Covering Iron. I don't have access to a local hobby shop, hence the reason I am asking

Sure there is. Go to you local Wal-mart/Target/K-Mart and pick up a pack of 100% cotton baby socks. They work better (IMHO) than the hot socks sold by the hobby outlets, and are a lot cheaper. A couple bucks will give you enough to last at least a couple of years.

Thanks Now that you mention that, I seem to remember some of the guys I used to fly with did that. It's been 12 years since I've been in the Hobby, so thanks for the Memory refresher.

while you are at it pick up an Ovglove to use as place to set the iron.. works great for me..
It's also great for protecting your hand when you are blasting away with a heat gun.

RE: Home Made Iron Sock?
Once again I am really glad you guys bring up these subjects!! I've spent the couple days recovering my Edge and the worst part about covering is the residue you get on your sock. I try to wipe them clean often and change them every so often, but I hate to just waste them. Now you guys just introduced me to a new idea that will be easier for me to pitch them away when they get nasty. THANKS.
It would also be awesome if someone could tell me how to get that glue residue off my covering that gets smeared on there sometimes from iron edges down. I think I read something about using CA debonder? Any thoughts on this or anything else?
